Qualify for the 2009 Washington State Elementary Chess Championships! Sections
for both advanced and inexperienced chess players. Open to anyone grades K-12.

Location:
Skyline Elementary School, 2225 Thornton Rd, Ferndale. (Directions below.)
Time:
Check-in from 8:45-9:15am in the gym. First round at 10:00am. Tournament awards expected at 4:35pm.
Eligible:
Any student grades K-6.
Format:
K-6 tourney. Sections are: K-3rd grades, 4th-6th grades. (If we have six or more Kindergarten players, they'll play in a separate, third section.) Students grades K-6 can qualify for State by earning at least 3/5 points during the tournament.
Awards:
Individual awards for top scorers in each section. Participation prize minimum for every player. Ties broken by computer as per WHSCA rules.
Top seven teams, based on top five players from a school, considering both sections combined, receive awards. A team shall consist of students enrolled in a school for the 2008-09 school year (as per State Elem. and WHSCA State rules).
Entry Fee:
$10 per person (An additional $1.75 fee for online registration). Advance entry is REQUIRED> Registration must be done online or postmarked no later than Wednesday, February 18th.
Concessions:
Concessions will be available on-site.
Miscellaneous:
Please bring clock if you have one. Chess sets are provided.
