Description:Info:Introduce your child to the fun excitement of a chess tournament and make new friends in chess! With eligible players only those that have played none or just a couple 'rated' tournaments, this is a great way to introduce competition without your child having to face 'experienced' tournament players right away. Staff on hand will explain the rules of tournament play and help the kids have a fun time. Studies show that kids that make friends and play in tournaments enjoy chess more, continue longer with chess, and thereby gain more of the great benefits chess provides (increased concentration, memory, math skills, critical thinking skills, etc.) Time:Check-in from 8:30-8:45am, first round ASAP. 4 rounds – estimated finish time 2pm. Participants play all 4 rounds regardless of results. (No elimination). Awards immediately following last round. Eligible:Any student grades K-6 who has played in 3 or fewer tournaments. Sponsored By:Chess4Life Format:K-6 tourney. K-1 Section, Grades 2-3, and Grades 4-6. (Note: some groups may be combined if small sections.) Awards:Generous number of trophies and medals to top finishers. Entry Fee:$18 per student (no extra fee for online registration), $25 after February 7th. Concessions:Some concessions available on site – local food easily accessible. Pre-ordered Lunches available. Miscellaneous:Equipment/Chess sets are provided. | |||||||||||
