Roosevelt Winter Chess Challenge 2010 (State Qualifier)

Qualify for the 2010 Washington State Elementary Chess Championships! Open to anyone grades K-8.

Location:

Roosevelt Elementary School, 2900 Yew St., Bellingham, WA 98226 (See below for directions to the school.)

Time:

Check-in 8:15 – 8:45 a.m, first round at 9:00am. Awards ASAP after last round (estimated 4:00 p.m).

Eligible:

Any student grades K-8.

Format:

K-8 tourney sections: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8.

Awards:

Generous number of trophies and medals to top finishers. Trophies to the top 5 in sections K-1 and 6-8 and to the top 10 in sections 2-3 and 4-5. Medals to all in grades K-6 with a score of 3.0 or more not receiving a trophy. Team awards to top six elementary schools (based on top five players from a K-5 or K-6 school). Small prize to all participants who did not get a trophy or medal.

Entry Fee:

$13 per person

Concessions:

Concessions on site. Lunch special can be ordered in advance. It includes a slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza, fruit, pop or water, and a treat.

Miscellaneous:

Please bring a clock if you have one. Chess sets are provided.
