Description:When:Mondays, 2:00–3:15p.m.; Feb. 4, 11, 25, March 3, 10, 17, 31, April 14, 21, 28 (10 sessions)Where:St. Louise Parish HallWho should attend:Any student (grades K-8) interested in learning or increasing their knowledge of chess.Benefits:Chess study has shown to increase math skills, concentration, memory, and self-confidence.Instruction:Chess4Life instructors work closely under the guidance of National chess master Elliott Neff. All instructors follow the coaching methods that were developed by Elliott over the past 16 years in training multiple students and teams to both state and national titles. The recently opened Chess4Life Center in Bellevue is a place for students to continue to receive additional training, and where coaches can hone their chess coaching skill with guidance from Elliott.Material Covered:Classes are tailored to the level of competency exhibited among the students. Classes typically include: basic principles and strategy of how to open a chess game, how to conduct the middlegame, and how to win (or avoid losing) in the endgame. Many other basic to advanced level tactics are also taught, including visualization techniques and tournament practice.Tuition:$110 total for the 10-session class. Tuition due Jan. 18th, you must pre-register for class.
