Lynden Christian Middle School, 503 Nooksack Avenue, Lynden, WA 98264.

Who is Invited:

Anyone grades 1-8 interested in learning or improving his/her skill in chess! Grades K, and 9-12 can request admittance on individual evaluation basis.

Registration:

Sign up for the five-day camp online or by filling out the flyer on this page and mailing it in to the chess4life office.

Principal Instructors:

Ethan Neff has 5 years teaching experience; experienced tournament competitor; teaching focus: student thinking skills awareness and improvement. Bert Rutgers is a high energy Chess4Life coach who inspires and excites his students. (There may be additional Chess4Life trained staff present.)

Awards:

Awards for good subject areas presented on the final day of the camp!

Educational Program:

"Elliott's Chess School" curriculum including some DVD lessons and workbooks - this curriculum has been developed by National Master Elliott Neff, formerly from Lynden himself, and used to help develop multiple national championship students. Additionally, opening, middlegame, and endgame tactics plus strategies will be developed. Tournament games plus specialties – speed chess for advanced group(s), bughouse, and more! Strong overall focus on good sportsmanship, and other peer skills.

8:45-9:00a.m. Drop-off and casual play

9:00-10:15a.m. Morning Classes

10:15-10:30p.m. Break Time

10:30-11:30a.m. Tournament Style games with analysis of some

11:30am-12:15p.m. 2nd half of morning classes

12:15-12:45p.m. Lunch Break and Morning Pick up / Afternoon Drop Off

12:45-1:45p.m. Afternoon Classes

1:45-2:00p.m. Afternoon Break

2:00-3:00p.m. Tournament games

3:00-3:40p.m. Afternoon Classes

3:45-4:00p.m.* Free Play, Simuls, Bughouse, Blitz, Clean-up, Check-out

*There is a late fee charged for students picked up after 4:00p.m.

Lunch:

Please bring a lunch.

Fees:

$179 per student for 5 days, $149 for four days. Half-day and partial week options available on a limited basis - call Chess4Life for details or download the flyer. Please bring chess clock, notepad, and pencil if available. There is limited space in the camp, so register early!
