Purpose: Elliott Neff as a 12 yr old honed his chess skills through weekly competition at the Seattle Chess Club, followed by reviewing each game played. This new event is intended to provide that same opportunity to students as well as coaches and parents of students in the friendly environment at the new Chess4Life Center. Note that Chess4Life coaches will regularly be on hand to review games with students after their game - and this is a good time to also enjoy practice, speed chess, and other opportunities to make new friends with others serious about improving their chess!

Format: USCF rated event with two rounds. NOTE: because the purpose of this event is to provide excellent practice, students will be grouped according to rating to ensure good competition for all players. Players will be paired by the following plan: highest rated 4 players in one group - 1 plays 3, 2 plays 4. Round 2, top 2 point scores play each other (tiebreaks utilized if needed) and the other 2 players also play a 2nd round.

Time Control: G/60 (1 hour per side).

USCF Membership Required: This event REQUIRES a current United State Chess Federation (USCF) membership in order to participate. The USCF consists of over 80,000 members and sanctions thousands of chess tournaments every year. To compete at a national level, chess players will need to register with USCF. During registration please enter Chess4Life's affiliate ID A6025410. Registration with USCF is required to compete at Nationals. $20,000 in scholarships being awarded at this year's National Elementary Championships!!
