Description:About the CampThis is a full day camp with Ping-Pong in the morning and chess in the afternoon. Limit of 15 students in this camp.NOTE: Ping-Pong camp is provided through Seattle Pacific Table Tennis Club Chess Camp:Principal Instructors:The Chess4Life coaching team comes from all across the world to bring the best possible chess instruction in the Pacific Northwest. All of our coaches work closely with National Master Elliott Neff who has over 20 years of coaching experience. Our instructors benefit from a collective passion for the game, an enthusiasm for teaching children and the goal of not only teaching chess, but teaching life skills and positive character traits through chess instruction. With the addition of Grandmaster Emil Anka, our coaching staff receives the best possible education to impart to your child! Educational Program: Each camp provides a different educational program based on the camper's specific needs, every child is assessed the first day of camp through a one-on-one evaluation by our specialized coaching team. Our goal is to challenge campers with new material, to reinforce solid foundations, and encourage growth of positive life skills in every individual. Campers will engage in a wide variety of topics, from opening principles, middle game tactics, and various endgame strategies; to learning famous games of Grandmasters and much more! Our lessons are based on your child's age and ability, and the student to coach ratios encourage personalized instruction with all topics. Campers will get to experience daily tournament games, topic specific instruction, puzzles and many more exciting chess activities! Other specialties include: bug-house, blitz and new variant games! Ping-Pong Camp:Coach Judy is the former coach of the women’s table tennis team in Hubei, China and currently resides in the Seattle area. Throughout her professional career, she has won many awards and trained many top quality students. Several of them have advanced to the Chinese National Team level. Coach Judy graciously offers her proven professional table tennis technique to the Seattle community. Her desire is to establish Seattle Pacific Table Tennis Club as a world class table tennis training center and to promote this popular sport to both youth and adults. Her ultimate goal is to lead her students to become members of the US National Team and to participate in the Sino-American table tennis exchange program in China.Students will focus on developing a good stroke with the paddle utilizing proper footwork. Daily Schedule:8:30-8:45am Drop-off and casual play8:45-9:00am Van ride to Table Tennis Club 9:00-11:50am Table Tennis Camp 11:50am-12:00pm Van ride to Chess4Life 12:00-12:45pm Lunch Break 12:45-1:45pm Afternoon Class 1:45-2:00pm Afternoon Break 2:00-3:00pm Tournament Games 3:00-3:45pm Mid-Afternoon Instruction & Game Analysis 3:45-4:00pm Pick-up 4:00-6:00pm Late Pickup/After Camp Care *We charge $5 per hour for students picked up after 4:00pm. This rate is not pro-rated. *Check with Chess4Life regarding possible early drop-off and late pick-up options. MiscellaneousStudents should dress in appropriate clothing, running shoes, and bring a water bottle.Students need to bring their own paddle After Camp Care:After Camp Care is available for all campers from 4:00pm until 6:00pm daily, at a flat rate of $35.00* for the full week of camp, or daily on a per hour basis.** Please notify the office at check-in or by calling 425-283-0549, if you would like After Camp Care; early drop-off is also available, standard rates apply.*Flat rate must be paid in advance (on or before, picking up your child the first day of camp) otherwise standard rates apply. **Standard per hour rate for after care is $5.00 per hour, fees are not prorated by the minute. Additional Info:Please label all campers' belongings!Please bring a chess clock if available. There is a $30 cancellation fee. NOTE: Electronic devices and card games are not allowed.
