Spring Valley Montessori Winter Chess Classes

When: Thursdays, 3:05 – 4:05p.m.

Winter classes begin January 12th, 2012 and scheduled to end March 22nd, 2012** (Class on 1/19 cancelled due to weather; makeup day scheduled March 29th.)

No class on February 16th, 2012

At Spring Valley Montessori School

Who should attend:

Any student interested in learning or increasing their knowledge of chess.

***Only Spring Valley Students may register****

Chess study has shown to increase math skills, concentration, memory, and self-confidence.

Instructors:

Chess4Life instructors work closely under the guidance of National Chess Master Elliott Neff. All instructors follow the coaching methods that were developed by Coach Elliott over the past 17 years in training multiple students and teams to both state and national titles (including the 2005 and 2008 National Elementary K-5 Championship Team). Coach Elliott has recently opened the Chess4Life Chess Center in Bellevue where students can receive additional training and where Chess4Life coaches continue to develop and hone their chess coaching skills with personal guidance from Elliott.

Material Covered:

Classes are tailored to the level of competency exhibited among the students.

Classes typically include:

Basic principles and strategy of how to open a chess game, how to conduct the middlegame, and how to win (or avoid losing) in the endgame.

Classes will be taught using Elliott's curriculum. Players of any level are encouraged to join, and Chess4Life coaches will tailor their coaching to students of all skill levels!

Tuition:

$125 total for the Fall classes. Registration is done through the school. Download flier to register. Turn in forms to school Register early to save your child's place in class!
