Description:

Tuesdays, 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.

Class begins January 10th and ends on April 3. March 20th is added to make up for the lost day on January 17th due to snow closure.

No chess on January 17th and February 21st.

Where:

At St. Luke's Parish School.

Who should attend:

Any student (PreK-8) interested in learning or increasing their knowledge of chess.

Benefits:

Chess study has shown to increase math skills, concentration, memory, and self-confidence.

Instructors:

Chess4Life instructors work closely under the guidance of National Chess Master Elliott Neff. All instructors follow the coaching methods that were developed by Coach Elliott over the past 19 years in training multiple students and teams to both state and national titles (including the 2005 and 2008 National Elementary K-5 Championship Team). Coach Elliott has recently opened the Chess4Life Chess Center in Bellevue where students can receive additional training and where Chess4Life coaches continue to develop and hone their chess coaching skills with personal guidance from Elliott.

Material Covered:

Classes are tailored to the level of competency exhibited among the students.

Classes typically include:

Basic principles and strategy of how to open a chess game, how to conduct the middlegame, and how to win (or avoid losing) in the endgame. Many other basic to advanced level tactics are also taught, including visualization techniques and tournament practice. Classes will be taught using curriculum developed by Elliott. Players of any level are encouraged to join, and Chess4Life coaches will tailor their coaching to students of all skill levels!

Tuition:

Early registration discount is $95 total for the fall. Registrations after January 3rd will be $105. Registration now open. Register online or by mail using the attached flier.
