Chess4Life instructors work closely under the guidance of National Chess Master Elliott Neff. All instructors follow the coaching methods that were developed by Elliott over the past 19 years in training multiple students and teams to both state and national titles (including the 2005, 2008 and 2009 National Elementary K-5 Championship Team). Elliott opened the Chess4Life Chess Center in Bellevue where students can receive additional training and where Chess4Life coaches continue to develop and hone their chess coaching skills with personal guidance from Elliott.

Classes are tailored to the level of competency exhibited among the students. Classes typically include: basic principles and strategy of how to open a chess game, how to conduct the middlegame, and how to win (or avoid losing) in the endgame. Many other basic to advanced level tactics are also taught, including visualization techniques and tournament practice. For additional ways to improve in chess go to the free videos at the Chess4life Eschool www.chess4life.com/eschool. First week used to assess playing abilities to place each player in the appropriate instructional group.
