About the Camp

This is a full day camp with chess in the morning and karate in the afternoon.
NOTE: Karate is limited to 14 students.

Chess Camp:

Principal Instructors:
The Chess4Life coaching team comes from all across the world to bring the best possible chess instruction in the Pacific Northwest. All of our coaches work closely with National Master Elliott Neff who has over 20 years of coaching experience. Our instructors benefit from a collective passion for the game, an enthusiasm for teaching children and the goal of not only teaching chess, but teaching life skills and positive character traits through chess instruction. With the addition of Grandmaster Emil Anka, our coaching staff receives the best possible education to impart to your child! Visit our coaches page to learn more about each of our valuable team members.

Educational Program:
Each camp provides a different educational program based on the camper's specific needs, every child is assessed the first day of camp through a one-on-one evaluation by our specialized coaching team. Our goal is to challenge campers with new material, to reinforce solid foundations, and encourage growth of positive life skills in every individual.

Campers will engage in a wide variety of topics, from opening principles, middle game tactics, and various endgame strategies; to learning famous games of Grandmasters and much more! Our lessons are based on your child's age and ability, and the student to coach ratios encourage personalized instruction with all topics.

Campers will get to experience daily tournament games, topic specific instruction, puzzles and many more exciting chess activities! Other specialties include: bug-house, blitz and new variant games!

Karate Camp:

The beginner/intermediate class will include from a basic intro to karate skills and ideas, to intermediate kata and skill practice for the more experienced karate practitioner who wants to spend extra time refining their skills.
