David is a highly qualified chess teacher, since 1990 he has tutored private students and taught in after-school programs in several Seattle-area elementary schools.Educational Background:

- Editor for Northwest Chess magazine
- 1987 - Washington HS Individual Champion
- 1987 - WA Representative at the Arnold Denker Tmt. of high school state champions (scoring 4-2)
- 1996 - earned National Master title
- 1997 - Defeated GMs Suat Atalik and Eduard Gufeld
- 1997 - Washington Open Champion (including wins over IM Orlov and FM Mikhailuk)
- 1997 - Tie for 4th-6th in the American Open in Los Angeles
- 2002 - Tie for 2nd-3rd, Washington State Championship
- 2002 - Earned the FIDE Master title
