Hristo Arabadjiev
Hristo is originally from a beautiful country in Eastern Europe called Bulgaria.
He first discovered his passion for playing chess when just 5 years old. When he was 19, he competed successfully against numerous national masters, resulting in an offer to represent Bulgaria in several international tournaments.
At the same time he also had a passion for music - it was a very tough decision, but Hristo chose to follow his musical passion first. He achieved a master's degree from The Music Academy in Plovdiv and became a conductor. Later on, he established one of the most famous professional chamber choirs for orthodox music called PHILIPPOPOLIS. For eighteen years, the group performed concerts all over the world including New York, Chicago and Tennessee. In Germany, the choir recorded five different CD's.
During all these years, Hristo never stopped playing chess. He participated in two "open" tournaments in his native town and won first place both times. In 2002, Hristo moved to Denver, CO in 2002, where he stayed till the spring of 2007.
Now he lives permanently in Seattle, WA, and very happy to coach for Chess4life, helping kids and pursuing his passion for chess.
