Roy Almasy

is a member of the Chess4Life team. He is a patient coach who has a passion for positively impacting the lives of children. While coaching, he uses the game of chess to teach practical life lessons.

United States Chess Federation (USCF) Certified Coach - Level 3

Chess Career Highlights:

  • Member of the Kearsley High School Chess Team—studied under Mike Skidmore 1996-2001
  • Directed Chess Program in Hong Kong - 2010
  • Organized tournaments, camps, special events and classes for hundreds of students
  • Directed multiple tournaments—well versed with tournament rules and etiquette
  • Conducted simultaneous chess exhibitions
  • Competed in many USCF chess tournaments
  • Placed 5th in 2000 USCF National High School Championship
  • 15+ years competing and studying chess
  • Teaching Experience:

  • Coached many students to reach goals in life and chess competition
  • 10+ Years chess coaching experience—coached students of all ages and skill levels
  • Coached hundreds of students in the US and Hong Kong
  • Coached League, State and National Championship Chess Teams
